UVSG Made Too Many Stickers

Post by AriX »

Take a look at this Word document: http://prevueguide.com/TVGNCo-Branding.doc
If you scroll down, you'll see an image of a TV Guide headend machine, which is pretty interesting... (full quality)

But... uh... what is that sticker doing on there? I speculate that they made too many stickers and wanted to use them up. Clearly they still use the same number system to ID machines as they used to. Pretty funny either way. (See http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... rdware.jpg for a more appropriate use of a "Prevue Networks Inc." sticker)

By the way, here's a small amount of info on TV Guide's hardware. What's an IRD?

Another interesting find: http://books.google.com/books?id=pOMDAA ... 22&f=false

I hadn't heard of Trakker, Inc other than a few articles on Highbeam/AccessMyLibrary and something that Wikipedia used to say, but maybe TV Trakker was the predecessor of Prevue Interactive? Seems they later folded these Trakker, Inc. services into Quickvue.

And if you need any more proof that Trakker was associated with UVSG, just call 1-800-TRAKKER. You will be greeted with "Thank you for calling Rovi!" (also try 1-800-44-PREVU)

Hmm, thanks.

Also, I looked again at the image of the TV Guide hardware and saw the W11720 tag, which is probably the machine's select code - W for Windows? (We already know there's A2 for Amiga and JR for EPG Jr.)
