Well while i'm still looking for the holy grail (in the UK at least) LD-V8000, I came across this

Now apparently these really are as rare as hen's teeth. It's a nearly standard industrial laserdisc player, with a slice on the bottom that makes it a data drive, like a CD-ROM. It's in really good physical condition, but the PSU is knackered.

More information about what it was primarily invented for is here, tis very interesting if you're into that kind of thing   http://www.beebmaster.co.uk/Domesday/DomesdayHome.html

Very cool, congrats! Does it have serial control like the LD-V8000?

It does, but the thing that makes it properly properly rare is it also is controllable by and works as a data drive over SCSI! I believe this is the only LD player that did this, ever. The application it was designed for actually doesn't use the serial AFAIK.

I understand (from the above site) that it's a mod of a very similar machine to the LD-V8000 (philips VP-410) with the SCSI and RGB genlock stuff bolted onto the bottom.
