A Secret VHS tape.

Post by joseph_sobora »

This may became a secret for a long time, but here it goes! I actually found out that for a long time, I have a VHS tape that does contain some clips of the "Prevue Channel", "The Barker" and a few others. Unfortunately, it was only recorded onto my Tyco VideoCam, which it's in Black & White. Plus, it wasn't easy filming the footage on there as I was trying to capture it through the TV and they're some problems trying to set the angle up close and perfectly. During that time, I didn't have cable for a while. Anyway, I was invited to a friend's birthday party on March 1, 1997 and since he had cable, I wanted to used my camera to recorded half of his party and later, recorded all the footages of the "Prevue Channel" and many others.

Originally, I wanted to recorded the entire footage, along with the others on the VCR, but the cable wasn't hooked up, so I had to do both.

I still have the VHS of those particular footages. Problem is, it does contain tracking problems and many others. So, it's not perfect. I'll try to see if I can find the tape and so I can recorded them and uploaded them to my channel. But, I'm going to take some time!

I had to mentioned it, because I could of had those high quality versions of those footages on my tape a long time ago. Such a shame!

I would like to see that. Was this a toy camcorder?

Yes, it's a durable video camcorder that hooks up to your VCR with two connections under a long wire through the camera. It takes only black & white footages. This was Tyco's intention to market video cameras for kids. Since, usually camcorder are used for adults. I had this as a Christmas gift from my mother back in 1996 and I still have it today, working very well! I also own a Canon ZR50 Digital Camera since 2004.

Here's the commercial of it!

Yeah, I'll try to look for the VHS soon to see if I can capture those footages, but it won't be easy! Too many friends started making noises.

It has "Intervue with Jim Ferguson", "Network Spotlight", "Prevue Tonight" and "FamilyVue" included along with one Prevue promo of the TV ratings.

Really awesome, thanks!

Something very strange I just realized...at around 16:58 in your video (at the start of Familyvue) I heard what sounded like some background voices. Almost like someone was saying "Rachel!" lol. I assumed it was just one of your friends or someone around you...But it dawned on me that I had heard that somewhere before. Interestingly enough...just watch the begginning of this video posted by "swbrwnskins":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6WrJ9PmN-Q

Yep, that where the audio was taken from. Because at the time, I couldn't find another "FamilyVue" video that had the audio right. I know, my friends at the time were annoying and rude, forgive me. That's how the party was!

Anyway, here's another one.

Thank you so much for sharing these videos. I even laughed in the part when one of the kids said "Why are you taping this?" and also the part when the kids reacted to the boxing promo on the Pay-Per-View "Barker" channel.
