Re: Wiki

Agree entirely on this, the Atari code has lots of error checking in it, and will clear the data and start again at the slightest thing being not what it expected - clearly designed to be able to extend the commands and command set, while leaving older revisions unaffected.

Select code

There's a reasonably good discussion of the select code here http://ariweinstein.com/prevue/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18&start=20. The incoming commands over the air can be addressed with all, none, or part of the select code in the box, to make commands that work on all, none, or part of the EPG/...

Re: TV Guide Channel Emulation Working!

(@arix: see I *SO* went to bed like I said I would) I have managed to inject data via winUAE, com0com and a terminal program I never heard of before called Hercules. It allows me to paste in the hex from the cgi scripts and send them straight away. The cursor flashes like you said, but the program d...

Re: Prevue guide music

Aha! all becomes clear, I was confused because I see a few amigas on some of the pictures that have a 4x BNC card on them, and I assumed that was where the audio was input and switched - now I see the light ;)

Re: Atari EPG jr reverse engineer

Checksum starts set to $BE, and then each letter of the serial number you use is XORed on top of each other. Terminate the serial number with a 00 (also included in the checksum. In the example with the *, the checksum is $BE xor $2A xor $00 = checksum At least that's what I think it is. If not, the...

Re: Atari EPG jr videos in the wild.

Very very true - could well have been.

Regard the font, it's deffo in the ROM as a custom thing - its at memory 8000 - 87FF, and can be seen by viewing with dis6502 and using the select sprites function (although they're not sprites obviously). The built in atari font is only used in the editor.

Re: Prevue guide music

OK I'm going to leave the mod thing for now :) while I hear ya, there's still many attributes to me that make it sound a little too regimented, and umm, how to explain... kind of lifeless (not that I don't love it for what it is) for it to be churned out by a music library. Maybe I'm way off the mar...
