Re: TV Guide Channel Emulation Working!

Sure, I'll try to package them up in the next few minutes. Out of all of those, the only two that should be different from the original image are curday.dat and nxtday.dat - the other PP20 files are just graphics, and the executables are of course never changed in our current situation (after all, w...

Re: TV Guide Channel Emulation Working!

Slight correction - April 1, 1999, not March 31. Here I was tearing my mind apart trying to determine why I couldn't get anything to work with March 31, 1999 =P

Re: TV Guide Channel Emulation Working!

Given the copyright dates at the end of curday.dat, I'm going to go ahead and say that the last time this disk was booted in an authentic AP2000 machine was March 31, 1999. It must have been decommissioned early, though - it's my understanding that the Amiga-based infrastructure wasn't replaced unti...

Re: TV Guide Channel Emulation Working!

Very nice. That means that all that is somewhere stored on the disc - I wonder if it's in the "raw" format that was sent across the RS-232. One thing I noticed - on the copy of the disk image that I've been messing around with, this did not work. I had to revert back to the original one do...

Re: Prevue fonts

Ok...as we know from Ari's original thread, the PrevueC font was created by someone called "J. Bruette", right? I did a quick Google search that led me to patent 5694176 - "Method and apparatus for generating television program guides with category selection overlay" with one of ...

IRC preparation

Ok. Ari has an IRC server running at irc.squishsoftware.com and irc.chronic-dev.org. Channel is #prevueguide, and it will be useful to register with NickServ, so that Ari can set up auto-ops and the like through Chanserv. Using any IRC client, connet to either server and do the following: /nickserv ...

Re: Prevue fonts

Heheh...I caught the post before you attached the file :) Not a problem, I do that all the time. Thanks for the work you put in to make this a TTF...definitely a lot more work than just converting it to a bitmap font. What size is nominal, i.e.; what size will generate glyphs identical to the origin...

Re: TV Guide Channel Emulation Working!

Interesting little tidbit - this video shows the same behavior that I've seen with Ctrl-U (which doesn't always make it unresponsive, sometimes you have to hit it a few times).

Re: TV Guide Channel Emulation Working!

Well, hm. According to this post , it's PowerPacker 4.0. I confirmed this by downloading a copy of PP4.0 and was able to successfully depack both it and sel. Found an interesting "undocumented" function for sel - you can change the baud rate with it as well, just pass either 2400 or 9600 a...

Re: Prevue Channel System Disk

I just noticed something...posting it here so it shows up as a new post without doubleposting...

The select code the software uses is GA24005, right? Well, the photo of the back of the disk has GA24512 written on it. I wonder what that's all about...
